Adding contacts to your account


Each email address is stored as a contact and the email address is the unique identifier of the contact. A contact can also have additional details such a name, preference and other data fields associated to them.


Lists are groups of contacts used for organising data and for choosing who to send campaigns to. Each contact in your account can exist in one or more list.

Your account will include a special address book called ‘Testers’ and this is the list of addresses that you can run test sends of your campaign to, without using your annual or monthly send limit.

Creating a new List

To create a new List, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Subscribers > and then choose Lists. Your lists are displayed in the main area of the screen.
  2. Click Add List at the top right of the page.

There are several ways to add contacts to your address book. The main two are:

  • Add one at a time using the online form
  • Upload a CSV file

Adding contacts one at a time

In your list, click on ‘Subscribers’ and then click ‘Add’.

When adding contacts using the online form, you can set each of the options and data fields for the contact. Enter the details and click Save when you’re ready.

Uploading contacts from a spreadsheet or CSV file

  1. In your list, click the ‘Add’ button and select ‘Import Contacts’ from the dropdown.
  2. Choose your file and select Single Optin or Double Optin
  3. When you’re ready, click ‘Save’ to begin the upload.

Alternatively, you can import contacts by clicking on ‘Subscribers’ from the main menu > select ‘Import’ from the dropdown > click the ‘Import Contacts’ button.  From here, you can choose which list you want contacts to be assigned to.

On the data matching page, click the drop-down menu of each field and select the appropriate label for each column or create a new data field. If the field from your CSV matches a field in Wired Plus, it will automatically fill out the field for you.

When you select ‘New Date Field’, you can choose the data format.  The options are:


Create a custom name for the field.  When ready, click Save and the file will be imported into the selected address book. If any record fails to import successfully, a faults file will be available for you to download.
